GTA III Android Modding

Very recently, Grand Theft Auto modding community got to discover that the newly ported GTA III for smart phones can be modified on Android devices. Just like the original PC version, GTA III makes use of the same filestructure on the mobile version.

Few mods already available and most of them come straight from the PC version of the game. Players can enhance their graphics display, allow your character to throw really hard punches and replace game models and textures for cars and buildings. You can also edit the elasticity and range of fire (of each weapon) as well as a traffic light. Be sure to see a lot more mods coming soon.

Here's how you can modify your GTA III game on your Android:

Step 1:
Download IMG Tool 2.0. and mod (for example Pegeot 306 Mexican Taxi to replace the Taxi).

Step 2:
Connect your smartphone to your computer. Browse to your internal SD-Card: Computer\GT-I9100\Phone\Android\data\com.rockstar.gta3\files\GTA3\models. Copy oldveh_unc.dir and oldveh_unc.img to the desktop.

Step 3:
Open oldveh_unc.img with IMG Tool 2.0 and replace taxi.dff and taxi.txd.
After this, rebuild the archive with: Commands -> Rebuild Archive.

Step 4:
Exit IMG Tool and copy oldveh_unc.dir and oldveh_unc.img to: Computer\GT-I9100\Phone\Android\data\com.rockstar.gta3\files\GTA3\models.

Step 5:
Copy handling.cfg from: Computer\GT-I9100\Phone\Android\data\com.rockstar.gta3\files\GTA3\data to your desktop.

Step 6:
Open handling.cfg with a Texteditor. Replace the lines in the handling.cfg with the one from the ReadMe file.

Step 7:
Copy handling.cfg to: Computer\GT-I9100\Phone\Android\data\com.rockstar.gta3\files\GTA3\data.

Step 8:
Start GTA III and have fun. If it works. :)

Note: If you have Chainfire 3D installed on your device, you will need to uninstall it so it does not go in conflict when you tweak the game. Be sure to save a backup copy of the original directory so you don't lose anything important.

Always make a backup copies of all your files before modding!

Some iPhone 4S owners reported that they also had some success with modding their game.

Grand Theft Auto IV Finale

It's been a while, but luckily for us Patrick Brown never seize to impress the hell out of people with his Grand Theft Auto masterstrokes. His latest and most likely the last GTA IV fanart entitled 'Grand Theft Auto IV Finale' was Patrick's way saying goodbye to GTA IV. At least for now.

FINALLY! Wow that took forever to do, with work being pretty busy and other work too I found it very hard to have a good drawing session where I could focus on this all at once. But here it is, I'm glad I stuck to it, you know how much I love my GTA IV.

This will most likely be my final GTA IV piece now that GTA V is on it's way I'll be doing a lot of artwork on GTA V in the near future, so you can count on that!

With this piece I wanted it to feel action packed yet moody at the same time, so I thought why not do the old walking away from an explosion scene. Only Niko is too badass so I had him walking "into" an explosion instead.

GTA fans get taste of next adventure

Gamers were given their first glimps of the latest instalment in the controversial Grand Theft Auto series yesterday. A one-minute trailer posted by developer Rockstar Games suggests Grand Theft Auto V will return to the Los Angeles inspired city Los Santos.

Backed by The Small Faces Ogden's Nut Gone Flake, it opens with idyllic scenes of golf courses and beaches. A narrator asks: 'Why did I move here? I guess it was the weather?' The voice-over goes on to explain he wanted to retire, be the 'good guy' and raise a family. But then the clip reverts to the game's traditional themes, with police chases, robberies and a shot of Vinewood - the game's version of Hollywood.

Rockstar did not give any details about when GTA V would be released. Analysts warned impatient gamers that trailers can appear more than a year ahead. The series, which has often attracted criticism for its violence, is one of the most popular in game history and has sold more than 124million units since 1997.

Many consider Vice City to be the most sucessful chapter in GTA franchise. Not only because it brought back the magic of the 80's, but also because it itroduced us to Tommy Vercetti. The smoothest propatagonist ever.

When looking at this poster by Brandon Arseneault, it's hard not to wonder if he drew his inspiration from Tommy's voice actor Ray Liotta when he made this. Tommy's character creation process was also heavily influenced by Ray Liotta's on screen persona.

Cosplayer and concept artist Claire Hummel felt an affinity for the character from Red Dead Redemption, Bonnie MacFarlane, and put much effort into successfully recreating Bonnie's western getup. The only downside is that Claire didn't go as far as blonde.

Vice City & San Andreas on iOS

In celebration of its 10th anniversary, Grand Theft Auto III is coming to the iOS and Android platforms later this fall. Given this technical feat, it's not far fetched to think Rockstar Games could port its more popular sequels as well.

Rockstar is still working to nail down the controls for the new version of GTA III, but if the port proves successful, it may open the door for Vice City and San Andreas to make the jump to tablets and phones as well. Speaking to Digital Trends, Rockstar admitted that recreating the misadventures of Tommy Vercetti and CJ would be a "technical challenge", but that it is "very possible".

Greetings From Liberty City

Patrick Brown's internet fame came to him after a series of mind blowing illustrations he did picturing all kind of famous characters from Grand Theft Auto franchise. His art was different, high quality and always humorous.

Since then, Patrick was involved in several other projects, but when time came to make a new Deviant Art (Patrick's home for his art) ID he decided to come back to his GTA roots and came up with another master work.

It's been a while since I've done anything Grand Theft Auto IV related so here's my new profile ID of my trip to Liberty City ... Jacking cabs and getting drunk with Niko.

And yes I have grown a full on beard now ... the times are changing haha! And I've even got my fave RDR shirt on that Rockstar games gave me themselves. All because they enjoyed my "jecking series", they sent me a whole package and that just goes to show how great the company is!

This is my first full-length GTA IV video. It shows the beauty of Liberty City. You can see Niko's clothes changing and the islands becoming bigger and better as the video progresses. This is a way to try and hint at the changes you mostly commit in the game and the islands you unlock through progress.

No mods were used. I could've used mods, and if I did it would've been a lot easier to make since I had to complete a few missions to buy more clothes and wait until the right time of day for a scene. Once I finished the video, I realised there were mods to do that at any time...

A while ago a well-known Australian artist Patrick Brown released few of his sketches. They were drafts of drawings Patrick didn't have time or motivation to finish. Just some ideas the artist had in mind and wanted to share with his fans.

Below is the end result of what a web designer from Slovakia, known as Raverin-SK, managed to archive from Patrick's sketch. As you can see it's Hawaiian Shirt lover Tommy Vercetti with sexy Mercedes right next to him in glorious Vice City, with a cherry red Infernus behind them. Raverin-SK used his own judgement for the colour scheme and edited some details to his liking.

Tommy Vercetti Turns 55

Ever wondered what Vice City 2 would look like? Well, wonder no more. Thanks to Patrick Brown, we have a sneak-preview of how Vice City, or more like it's main characters, would have changed after all those years.

This is my vision of a modern Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, you'll notice I've added the old characters and made them as they should look in 2011.

- Tommy Vercetti. Ok so we don't know him any further than 1986, but just for fun I gave him a little extra weight. And maybe a little less hair up top The faded shirt had to be done. I mean come on ... He's had the shirt for 25 years (game time).

- I made Ken Rosenburg very similar to when we last saw him in San Andreas based in 1992.

- Phil Cassidy looks like he did in GTA III which was based in 2001.

- I've even added Fernando Martinez working his magic as always. I didn't really make him look too old because we don't really know what he looks like anyways, my only reference is the artwork from the Emotion 98.3 soundtrack cover. Lets just say he ages well.

- Yeah you'll notice Niko Bellic in the background eye-balling that Infernus When will the 'jeckings' end haha!

Well I hope you all enjoy, and lets all hope that Rockstar's next GTA will be a re-do of the amazing city of Vice.

It feels like forever since we grazed our eyes on Mr. P's last full colour GTA art-piece. But he's back!

An American experimental photographer Kristen Lanae is not a newbiew to cosplay. Her gallery is full of outstanding characters from movies and video games, but Kristen's replication of Lola is pure sex. I mean the girl is unbelievably stunning and talented, which is rare.

Any gamers, especially GTA fans might recognize this, it's a character and prostitute from GTA 4 named Lola. :)

I did a lot of painting / air brushing on the skin to get a more cartoonish / fake feel. I actually had to re-do this shoot twice to get it right, and I'm pretty happy with it all except my damn hair, it just wasn't cooperating. Well ... hope ya like!

Also, as you can see she only has five fingers, not six as the original.

Whole Lola Del Rio

A deviantART newcomer, gtauto, may just made dream come true for many Grand Theft Auto fans. The photo manipulator recreated the missing bottom half of Lola Del Rio's artwork. Now everyone can enjoy her previously unseen "sweet spot" in both natural and shaved form.

Possibly that's the reason nobody could find her anywhere in Liberty City. She was simply busy preparing her "Terracotta Pie".

In total there are 5 pieces in the 'Whole Lola' series: Whole Lola, Lola Unshaved, Lola Shaving, Lola in Purple and Lola Shaved.

Two photos and drawing were used to reconstruct Lola's missed body. Made in Photoshop CS5. Everything above hips was created by Rockstar.

Grand Theft Minecraft

Looks like Gran Theft Auto invaded a sandbox construction game created by Markus Persson, Minecraft. The game involves players creating and destroying various types of blocks in a three dimensional environment. The player takes an avatar that can destroy or create blocks, forming fantastic structures, creations and artwork across the various multiplayer servers in multiple game modes.

In order to make the game more fun, Minecraft's forum member WOOTinator created a number of player skins. Now having your avatar as Claude Speed or Tommy Vercetti, anyone can destroy blocks in GTA style.

A lot of people found it difficult to locate the unicorn in Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare DLC. Below you'll find aid, a map and a video guide to help you with your magical quest.

After you have killed the Chupacabra, which is commonly found in Nuevo Paraiso when you are on the last tier of the hunting challenges, the Unicorn can usually be spoted in the plains just northwest of Torquemada. If it isn’t appearing for you. Trying going to another town then fast traveling to Torquemada. This reloading of the area sometimes help force the mythical beast to appear.

Five incredible and colourful wallpapers of Candy Suxxx in her famous bikini with a United States flag motif, and red high-heeled shoes. All thanks to a Ukrainian artist redfill, real name Sergey Filikov.

The artist used Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories as an inspiration for his creations. An interesting fact is that Candy Suxxx's facial features on these wallpapers are actually based on a Canadian porn star Jayna James / Amy Anderssen / Amy Azurra / Barbie.

Candice Shand, better known by her stage name Candy Suxxx, is a character in Grand Theft Auto series who appears in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. The fusion of one of the most popular video game series with one of the most recognisable animated television series was well overdue. Patrick Brown at it again!

Just some recent, if a couple of years can be considered recent, GTA artworks from famous Patrick Brown. The first two are actually ID pictures Patrick used at his deviantArt profile. As you can see he went with GTA IV's Weazel News theme for both of them. Very original if you ask me.

An interesting fact is that backgrounds for both IDs are actually screenshots from the game (GTA IV and Ballad of Gay Tony), but with some Photoshop magic added to them.

Next on our list is a scene from GTA IV: Ballad of Gay Tony. It took Patrick around 20 hours to finish it and while doing it he learned few new tricks.

Meet Luis 'Fernando' Lopez the bodyguard to the nightclub manager Tony "Gay Tony" Prince who is shitting him self in the passenger seat... This scene is actually exactly the same as in Liberty City, it's just up the road from the "Comedy Club".

The last piece is a tribute to GTA IV. Mr P. admitted that it took a lot of work and time to draw and colour almost 30 characters, but it looks like all that hard work paid off.

After playing through GTA IV again I really just felt like doing something HUGE on it. So I decided to make this "tribute" to the game, something that showed almost all the characters of GTA IV and some of the highlights of missions.

Niko Bellic In iPod Touch

One bright young illustrator from Germany decided to use his beloved iPod Touch for something creative. After combining his artistic personality with his love of GTA IV, he came up with an incredible portrait of gagster from Serbia, Niko Bellic.

David Müller was using his iPod Touch to make art for some time now, and it’s unbelievable what can be done on a new generation mobile phones these days. I personally never thought that multimedia device could be used to make such magnificent art. I would advice everyone to check David Müller’s gallery blog to see more of his latest creations. Here are some comments from the artist himself:

Just to complete it, here's a little description for you: I tried to capture a mood that fits to him - there's a reason for B/W (morally he's already dead - war and the mob-life ruined his humanly), his look (he's forearmed and got a freezing ice-cold intend), and for the threatening clouds and red/purple skyline (not only the sun is going down, the big city also dies with him "onboard"!).

Rockstar Games finally released the new feature for GTA Chinatown Wars, Mr Wong's Laundromat. The newly opened webgame will allow Social Club members to earn and transfer cash/multiplayer skins back to their linked Nintendo DS.

Today, we’re excited to announce the grand opening of Mr Wong’s Laundromat on Rockstar Games Social Club. This webgame allows players of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars to log onto Social Club and test out their money laundering skills in an effort to win cash and unlockable multiplayer costumes that can then be used in their copy of Chinatown Wars for the Nintendo DS.

Players can earn up to $10,000 per day working for Mr Wong, a local Chinatown 'businessman' who's helped more than his fair share of cash trickle seamlessly and undetected through the streets of Liberty City over the years.

If you need to add your Nintendo DS Friend Code to your Social Club account (needed to transfer any money/multiplayer costumes you earn from Mr Wong back to your game) you can click here to visit the Social Club account linking page and follow the detailed instructions. You can also play Mr Wong’s without having a DS Friend Code linked to your Social Club account and submit scores to the top 50 leaderboard.

Once you have successfully linked your account with the Social Club, all you need to do to receive your rewards from Mr Wong is sync your Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars’ game save with the Social Club. To do this, visit any safe house and click on your “Pink Fruit Laptop”. Once in the “Pink Fruit Laptop” screen you will see an option to “Sync Stats” which requires a valid Wi-Fi connection. Any money and or costumes that you had accumulated in your piggy bank will be zero’ed out on the Social Club and added to your game save during the sync process.

As soon as your sync is complete with the Social Club, please make sure to save your game. If you have retrieved money and/or a multiplayer costume but do not save your game, they will be unrecoverable if your DS loses power or you reload your save game. Users can only accumulate up to $10,000 dollars within a 24 hour period from Mr Wong. Once this limit is reached, a user will no longer earn money that can be pushed back to the Nintendo DS for that day but will still be able to submit high scores to the leaderboard.

Finally, multiplayer costumes are earned in succession and if you earn a new multiplayer costume your old one will be overwritten.

New TLAD & CW Artworks

Patrick Brown strikes again with two new Grand Theft Auto related artworks. The first one features Johnny Klebitz from the recently released The Lost and Damned, who wasn’t entirely happy with the progress of the race and decided to “remove” some of the competition the only way he knews how. The hit made the poor soul to collide with an oncoming traffic.

The second image is of Huang Lee from the brand new Chinatown Wars. Looks like our new friend run into a "little" trouble and as a result earned himself 6 star wanted level. Each piece took the author a long time to complete, but they were worth it. Both look just amazing, as every artwork from the P-Meistar.

Rockstar Games dropped a bombshell by announcing that May Payne 3 is currently in development and can be expected to be released as soon as winter 2009. GTA Legends III Art Piece

Another year and another astonishing art piece by Patrick Brown. It’s been some time since we saw anything from this skillful Australian, but the wait was worth it. In this artwork we can see every single protagonist from the entire Grand Theft Auto series so far. Even the ones we haven’t played with, yet. Unbelievably it took Patrick only 25 hours of hard work to finish this incredible scene.

- So as you can see Tommy Vercetti (Close left) is acting like he is THE BOSS! Haha that's because he is, he owns The Malibu, remember back when playing Vice City?

- As for Niko (behind Tommy) he's working for Tommy and is asking him if he wants Vic dead for a price (remember, if it pays, Niko does it...) No one should fool around with Tommy's girls.

- CJ (third) is fighting with Claud Speed from GTA III, if you remember back in San Andreas at the end, CJ gets a call from Catalina who had a little thing for CJ. She dumps him over the phone and says she with Claud now...

- BUT Claud trying to tell him how she's a back-stabbing bitch for blasting the crap out of him with a shotgun in GTA III.

- Now Toni (back) is about to beat the crap out of Claud for killing Salvatore Leon back in GTA III...

- Vic is basically just trying to have a good time and stay out of trouble (just like in Vice City Stories) but trouble always finds him.

- Now the two new guys Huang Lee and Johnny Klebitz, I couldn't actually have them doing much because I don't know anything about the games yet... But basically they are trying to get pissed.

Here’s a bit older masterpiece by the same artist. As you can see the styles and color schemes in both are very similar. Both illustrations also fine examples of how magnificent and exiting Vice City is.

About one year ago prior to the release of GTA IV last April, Rockstar Games Social Club website was launched and Grand Theft Auto IV Custom Portrait Sweepstakes was one of the very first competitions to be announced.

The potential winner(s) will be determined in a random drawing on or about 5/5/2008 from among all eligible entries received. The drawing will be conducted by Sponsor. Sponsor's decisions are final and binding. The potential winners will be selected at random from among all valid entries received. Potential winners will be notified by email on or about 5/7/2008.

One Grand Prize Winner will have their portrait illustrated by Rockstar Games in the Grand Theft Auto style. The winner will receive a digital copy of the portrait and a cropped version of the image will be used as the avatar for the winner’s Social Club membership. Winner will be required to prepare and submit a series of reference photographs upon which the portrait will be based. My sculpture of Niko Bellic, measuring at about 8", is finally done. Basing it off the familiar promo shot, I used Sculpey clay, a metal skeleton made of screws (needles for finger bones) and acrylic paint.

Multiple shades of each color were used to prevent it from having a toyish look. I based the pose on the promo shot but the details on the in-game model.

GTA Chinatown Wars Update

The official Grand Theft Auto Chinatown Wars website was updated with a new artwork. It’s believed that it could be the box art for the game when it will be released. The artwork also reveals a small piece of information. Since the box art for Grand Theft Auto III, every single GTA game (excluding GTA Advance) featured an image of a helicopter in the left top corner. This isn’t a case here. Instead of a helicopter there’s a motorbike, which suggests that there’ll be no aircrafts or helicopters specifically, in Chinatown Wars.

GTA San Andreas She-Hulk

Artist Davide Cilloni, took a very interesting and unexpected approach to one of the artworks from Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. Davide’s version of a cover girl, who unfortunately didn’t appear in the game, is very clean and creative. The piece, which is called “gotcha” surely catches the eye with its uniqueness. The choice of color scheme was fresh and very imaginative. Davide Cilloni wanted to catch people’s attention with this artwork, and he achieved it very well.

Real Niko Bellic Art

There’s a comparably new artistic style of image manipulation that’s called untooning. In essence untooning is when an artist uses one or several photographs of real people (mostly faces) and manipulates them in a way to give the effect of realism to a cartoonish character.

The most well known artist for such photo manipulations is an artist called pixeloo (Jax Pixeloo). He started to attract more attention after untooning GTA IV’s main character Niko Bellic for the Official Playstation Magazine. The artistic piece received great feedback and a lot of recognition.

Not everyone was amazed by pixeloo’s creation and one Brazilian artist, who also did similar pieces in the past, decided to make even more realistic portrait of an Eastern European war veteran. mataleoneRJ used eight photographs of different people to get the best possible result. The artist added wrinkles, extra details around the eyes and one or two scars to get the true gangster look.

Both artists achieved incredible results, and both pieces look superb.

1UP Multiplayer Preview

The closer we get to the PC release, the more new information revealed. People at 1UP had a chance to play multiplayer on a PC version and reflect on it. They also confirmed a lot of rumors about the gameplay, so many of you will be pleased.

What happens when you throw 32 thugs into the same neighborhood? We find out ourselves during a PC multiplayer session.

If you've ever wondered what might happen if you dropped nearly three dozen people into a neighborhood in New York, gave them automatic weapons and vehicles, and left them to fend for themselves, well, Grand Theft Auto 4's multiplayer might prove to be a decent simulation. While the upcoming PC version sports the usual array of improvements (snazzy resolutions like 2560x1600, general visual polish, a new radio channel called Independence FM that lets players listen to their own music, and a new video editor), multiplayer's getting a significant improvement: 32-player support. Anthony Gallegos and Thierry "Scooter" Nguyen got to jump right into a multiplayer session with personnel from Rockstar Games' various studios (fun fact: Rockstar Lincoln is not located in Lincoln, Nebraska, but in Lincoln, England) to experience some 32-player hijinks. Here's what they had to say on the subject of multiplayer vehicular homicide.

Scooter: Turning a 16-player game into a 32-player one sounds like a dorky bullet point for the back of the box, but in the case of GTA4 multiplayer, it officially amps up a multiplayer session from "crazy" to "f***ing nuts" on the Scooter Intensity Dial. No matter which of the numerous modes you play (we checked out two of the 15 modes), the addition of more players -- plus the new keyboard/mouse controls and the accuracy they grant -- results in some interesting matches. I can say one thing for sure: Padawan Anthony is damn good with the mere pistol due to his superior keyboard/mouse skills.

Anthony: It's true -- a keyboard and mouse definitely makes the pistol a viable weapon. It wasn't terrible in the console version, but it works fantastically for headshots if you have a steady mouse hand. But even an awesome mouse hand doesn't mean that you're going to wipe the floor with your opponents, since there's little that mouse hand's going to do when 12 cars are barreling down the street at you while four thugs are popping shots off at your head. Scooter's right: It's accurately described as "f***ing nuts" most of the time. Whether it's a free-for-all match or a mode with four teams of eight, you can be pretty sure that something's always going down close to you.

Scooter: Yeah, our first 32-player match was in an 8v8v8v8 Team Deathmatch session in the Bohan borough (GTA-speak for "the Bronx"). Even before jumping in, we noticed that the developers added a custom match browser, where you can search for an online session that fulfills specific criteria (gameplay mode, number of players, and so forth). It's a small but welcome touch, considering how the console versions pretty much just put you in a random online match. Like in the console versions, you can tweak your character's appearance a bit; Anthony rolled with a team that coordinated their outfits to be the same color while I had a sort of "what if Santa Claus was younger and a registered sex offender" look. The matches were pretty damn straightforward: You spawn in, run (or drive) around for a weapon or two, and just shoot the guys sporting other colors. Kills earn money, and the team with the most cash wins. Despite being constantly lost, a crazy firefight was always nearby due to the sheer number of players. Heck, even though I was crouching to up my accuracy, my assault rifle wasn't enough when Anthony rolled up with his whole crew?.

Anthony: It's true -- more so than when I played on console, I felt the need to run around with a posse. Being accurate is good, but having a group spray a wave of bullets is even better! And thanks to the spawning system that keeps placing you near your surviving teammates, I generally found that I was never far from friends or from the action -- despite playing in a large chunk of the city.
And while my teammates coordinated their outfits, I certainly never felt like it was a necessity. Between the minimap and the tags above players' heads, I never had trouble sorting out who deserved a bullet in the brain; in fact, besides the time when we played Team Deathmatch, this was never even a thought that crossed my mind, as everyone was a target in most of the other modes. I don't know about you, but when we tried out the GTA Race mode, the last thing I was concerned with was driving the proper course on the track.

Scooter: Oh, yeah, you want to talk craziness -- how about GTA Race mode? What's hilarious about GTA Race mode is how quickly it devolves into zany free-for-alls. It's actually kind of cool to be in a real, legit vehicle race with 31 (GTA Race also has a 32-player limit) other dudes, but cramming 32 people on a stretch of highway usually turns even a well-intentioned race into a bunch of guys hopping in and out of cars while trying to cap each other. Actually, since everyone starts out in a similar car, GTA Race mode ends up playing a bit better than Team Deathmatch for me. While it took me forever to find a car in Team Deathmatch, in GTA Race, because people kept on ditching their rides in an effort to take out other players, you have a lot of abandoned cars to choose from. Also, since each player in GTA Race respawns in a Faggio (the GTA name for Vespa scooters), you can see which spot is a warzone due to how many discarded Faggios litter the street.

Anthony: Yeah, I appreciated the craziness of GTA Race mode, but I worry that some people online will take it too seriously and end it within a few moments of when it starts. I guess, if nothing else, people who love to torment others can take pleasure in trying to derail those players from achieving a swift victory. And I completely agree with you that GTA Race mode is a great, as it not only still tracks your kills, but it also constantly gives people new vehicles when they respawn. Fighting on foot is fun and all, but there's something to be said about dropping grenades off the back off a scooter. GTA4 PC's multiplayer proved to me that, as far as the amount of players in a match, more truly can be better.

First, the news on the ‘Video Editor’, then the announcement of the new ‘R* Social Club TV’ service to host all the GTA IV fan-made movies and now this. UK based magazine PC GAMER has reviewed GTA IV and it has received a score of 92% and been awarded their 'Must Buy' badge. The game looks great and the keyboard and mouse combination is effortless to use. Make sure to pick up a copy in your nearest shop.

Keyboard and Mouse feels effortless to drive with, there seems no issues with this combo in general (mouse obviously being brilliant to aim with).
Wall hugging bugs from console has made it to PC - When up against certain walls or cars you still sometimes can’t always peak around to shoot which causes some frustration to the player.
Bizarre decision has been made regarding multiplayer - You need to log into Rockstar’s Social club AND Windows Live to be be able to log into the game online.
Game looks amazing with a Dual Core and a 8800 card. It did have some major framerate wobbles, “nothing fatal though” insists the reviewer.

Available exclusively on Xbox LIVE worldwide on February 17th 2009, The Lost and Damned will feature all new content and is the first of two episodes announced for Grand Theft Auto IV on Xbox 360.

Developed by Rockstar North and set in Liberty City, The Lost and Damned features a new main character and plot that intersects with the storyline of Grand Theft Auto IV; new missions that offer an entirely fresh way to explore Liberty City with new multiplayer modes, weapons and vehicles; and a diverse soundtrack with additional music - all with the incredible production values that are the trademarks of Grand Theft Auto.

Johnny is a very different character than Niko, with a very different background. I can't go into too much detail on the story, because we try not to give away too much plot before the game is released. But I can say that the story will show you a different side of Liberty City.

There is an enormous amount of GTA fan made videos out there, and most of them are hosted on YouTube. Those videos get immense amount of hits and perhaps Rockstar Games decided to be in a center of that creativity. The new service will allow gamers to record edit and host their videos online for everyone to see and judge. It’s exclusively for PC owners and only for GTA IV.

Grand Theft Auto returns to the platform that birthed it this December 2nd - with the fully-enhanced Games for Windows release of Grand Theft Auto IV.

Grand Theft Auto IV for the PC will feature exclusive details such as stunningly detailed, high-resolution graphics; 32-person multiplayer with Custom Matching for an optimized experience; and the ability to customize a radio station using your personal mp3s via the new radio station, Independence FM on the Liberty City radio dial.

Most excitingly, Grand Theft Auto IV for the PC offers players the chance to become the Cecil B. Demille of Liberty City via the all new Video Editor feature. Member Valay at Nintendo Everything translated an article from the Spanish games magazine, which reveals some new information regarding Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars. It was the same magazine that originally announced that Chinatown Wars will be using almost entire Liberty City from GTA IV.

• Camera can swivel 360 degrees.
• Trains will pass overhead in the city, cars will circle, pedestrians will be walking, etc.
• GPS seen on the touch screen while you move through the city.
• PDA allows you to gain access to the map with more details as well as the goals of missions.
• You can mark points that you want and the GPS will always tell you the shortest legal route to the destination with yellow or blue arrows.
• New discoveries (such as gas stations) are added to the map.

Presenting a new happy 3d papercraft tribute to the new game with cars and people walking about IV. It has pigeons in this one but I couldn’t fit them on my papercraft because the scale would go under even my tolerance levels for making small things.

Some people take the whole fan thing to the whole new level. As you can see some individuals decided to express their love and admiration for Rockstar Games and well known Grand Theft Auto series in artistic and quite painful way. It’s hard to understand why someone would go to extremes like putting permanent free advertising, but then fans are known for doing crazy things.

Many of you might already be familiar with the photo above. This guy tried to live the game for real, but forgot that in reality things work a bit differently.

A Canadian man’s apparent fondness for the video game “Grand Theft Auto” has led to his arrest in connection with an auto theft, police said on Wednesday.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said Shylo Kujawski — who has “Grand Theft Auto” prominently tattooed on his back — was spotted acting suspiciously in a Vancouver suburb where several stolen cars had been reported.

Using the tattoo to identify Kujawski as a convicted auto thief, police said they then set up a stakeout that nabbed him attempting drive away in a stolen car.

During the stakeout Police also watched Kujawski thwart his own attempt to drive away in another stolen vehicle by accidentally disabling the car with the owner’s steering wheel lock.

Kujawski, of no fixed address, has been charged with possession of stolen property in connection with an auto theft, as well as breach of probation and driving while suspended.

Grand Theft Auto fans got bad reputation because of few individuals who blamed video games for their stupid actions. Fortunately, majority of fans simply enjoy the gameplay of a highly successful sandbox style video game series. Rockstar Games finally released the official PC requirements. Even though these specifications aren’t surprising for game like this, many PC owners will still be disappointed with such high requirements and the fact that their “Iron Beast” wouldn’t be able to handle it.

People at IGN had a chance to test GTA IV for PC and see the difference with their own eyes. You can read their thought on the game below.

Have you played Grand Theft Auto IV yet? No? Well, on December 2nd the game's coming out on PC with some extra features and enhanced graphics, something we got to check out at a recent event in San Francisco. We didn't get the opportunity to actually install the game on our own computers; Rockstar had it set up on their own rig, so we can't say much about performance, other than what we saw and played at the demo.

According to Rob Nelson, producer at Rockstar Toronto, the PC version has been working on GTA IV PC since January with a team of around 50 members. He gave us some perspective as to why the PC version is coming out later than with Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions. "The earlier PC versions of Grand Theft Auto (since III) have always been put into production as soon as the console versions were complete; in this case, we've been working in concert with the console teams, and even a little before. The reason we're releasing six months later is due to the fact that we are building this as a pc game from the ground up and adding additional features to an already massive experience."

So what's been added since? There'll be custom match filtering for multiplayer games, though it sounds like there might be something else in the works. "At this time, all we're talking about is the custom match filtering," said Nelson. "You'll be able to create a multiplayer match with any number of specifications, and others can search for something that is just right." Players also get a built-in video editor to splice together replays, more control options and, as you might expect, better graphics.

But what about the downloadable content on the way for the Xbox 360 version? "The downloadable content is exclusive to the Xbox 360," said Nelson.

As far as content goes like missions and storyline, nothing's really changed with the single-player for the PC version. You'll still get the same kind of open-ended experience playing as protagonist Niko Bellic as, fresh of the boat, he prowls the streets of Liberty City, instigating chaos, committing crimes, and stumbling his way up from the metropolis's seedy underbelly. With the PC version, you naturally get a different input, the mouse and keyboard. If you want, though, it's entirely possible to play through with a gamepad. For our demo, an Xbox 360 controller was hooked up, and it along with the mouse and keyboard were active at the same time, meaning we didn't have to go into a control menu to swap between which input devices were active. This way, you can use the mouse and keyboard for aiming and the controller for driving, or whatever you prefer.

We can say that aiming, as might be expected, is far easier in the PC version. Making precision shots while barreling through crowded streets to blow out tires and the brains of drivers was far more practical, and should hopefully make for some more entertaining high-speed pursuits as you're more easily able to pull off desired actions. There's also a slider in the PC version to dramatically increase traffic density, which can lead to traffic jams of thirty or so cars. If you've got some explosives on you, like for instance a rocket launcher, this can lead to some serious fireworks that should be sure to please those gamers that play GTA games more for the random cop chases than the storyline and missions.

Even with all the graphics options cranked and the resolution set at a ridiculous 2560 x 1600 the game still ran well as we sped through the city and blew up as many things as possible. We checked out the specs on the rig and it turns out there was some pretty powerful hardware in there: a Core 2 Extreme X9650 CPU, GeForce GTX 280 graphics card, and 3 GB of RAM. At this setting, the game definitely looked better than the console versions, particularly with regards to the extended draw distance and less pop-up, though that shouldn't be all that surprising.

The one major difference with the PC version is the addition of a replay editor. At any time during play offline or on you're able to hit a key, F2 as default, to record a 30 to 60 second clip of gameplay. The length is determined by what's going on onscreen. You can hit F2 as many times as you want, and the game will record overlapping clips, so no worries about interruption. There's no limit on how many clips you can record, just basically as many as you've got room for on your hard drive. Once you think you've captured something you like, you can pop out to the replay editor to start customizing your clips.

The seems like a pretty useful tool, as it lets you do things like cut up and splice together different bits of clips. So if you've got five different explosions and want to string them together into a montage, you just load up each clip, set ins and out and, through a seemingly easy to use interface, string them together. For each clip you can also set a whole range of visual filters and camera angles to get the best view of the action. This way you can show shootings from the point of view of the victim, overlay a green-tinted or sepia toned filter, maybe adjust the audio levels, and add in some custom text for an added effect. Like, when the cop car explodes, you can have text pop up with some creative witticism such as "Look, this cop car is exploding."

Better draw distances, less pop-in.In addition to setting your own camera angles, it's also possible to have the camera perform movements while a scene plays out. If you want the view to orbit around Niko Bad Boys II-style while he's unloading clips or set the camera to a shaky handheld setting while he's running and gunning, that's entirely within your power. Then you can slap on a song from the soundtrack for some music accompaniment, touch up whatever else you feel is necessary, and move on to exporting the final file in 640x480, 720p, and 1080p sizes to the Rockstar Social Club where others can take a look at your creation.

Overall it seems like an easy to use but powerful editor, and something that should definitely be pretty nice for players who want to capture those chance moments in the game that seem like they'll never happen again. You'll just have to remember to hit F2.

For multiplayer, the game uses Games for Windows -- Live, the integration of which Nelson was willing to elaborate on. "Achievements for single-player, friends lists, voice communication, multiplayer anti-cheating technology, and distributed worldwide servers for robust online play... you will have the exact same achievements available from the single-player and multiplayer on the consoles."

It would appear that a viral outbreak is invading Grand Theft Auto IV and turning players into zombies. The living dead will take over the street of Liberty City this Halloween. Zombie feature "Viral Infection" is now finally available at Rockstar Social Club.

There is a virus sweeping through Grand Theft Auto IV turning many unsuspecting players into Zombies. If you’ve seen the special Zombie-with-yellow-briefs player skin running around during Grand Theft Auto IV multiplayer, then you may already know that the virus can be contracted in any and all multiplayer modes and is spread when an unsuspecting player kills someone who has the infection (note that the infected don’t necessarily have to be wearing the Zombie skin, some show no symptoms!). The signs of infection are: access to the zombie skin and having the Achievement “Let Sleeping Rockstars Lie”.

With the all-new Viral Infection feature at the Rockstar Social Club, members can now see whether they are currently infected, the number of total global infections and the number of infections in the last 24 hours. Digging deeper, Social Club members can also browse a color-coded world map tracking the spread of the infection worldwide, including breakdown for all 50 US States.

Chinatown Wars Characters

In Grand Theft Auto IV Triads appear in the game around China Town, but not much is known about them as they only appear in a few missions. There are three different sets making of the Liberty Triads in the LCPD Database. One group of Triads are under Hsin Jaoming and his son Chan Jaoming. Another is led by Wu "Kenny" Lee and his nephew Huang Lee. The third is controlled by Zhou Ming. The Jaoming Triads is said to supply the Angels of Death and Korean Mob with narcotics.

Chinatown Wars' story follows the character Huang Lee, a member of the Triads, who must deliver his recently-assassinated father's Yu Jian, a supposed family heirloom and sword, to his uncle Wu "Kenny" Lee. Huang is ambushed along the way, and he must not only recover the sword, but avenge his father's death in the process.

These two characters will play a significant role in the new game.

Looks like English newspaper The Times , decided to use Niko Bellic in their new advertisement campaign to boost sales and relate to the younger readers. To attract the most attention, adverts could be seen all over the public transport including the very newspaper.

East European protagonist of GTA IV was only one of the many people who were featured in the advertisement campaign, but he was used by far the most. The advertisement was very simple and straight to the point. Perhaps The Times wanted to appear as everyone’s newspaper. No matter how old you are or what you are interested in, everyone can find something to their liking in one newspaper.

New Chinatown Wars Artwork

Games magazine Edge revealed some Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars artwork in their recent issue. Unfortunately there isn’t much new information about the game and the official website also doesn’t offer much. All the artworks are done in the same style all previous GTA games had. Doesn’t look like there are any mutes with five fingers (Lance "Ryder" Wilson in San Andreas and Lola Del Rio in GTA IV had five fingers drown), but perhaps we’ll discover them when Rockstar Games releases more artwork.

GTA Chinatown Wars Screens

Nintendo Power magazine released some screenshots of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars recently. If we take into account the hardware capabilities of the Nintendo DS, the game doesn't look half bad, but it does feels like a step back when compared to GTA IV. The game has an isometric view, which brings back the memories of the first two GTAs.

Those who thought that the Nintendo DS exclusivity of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars meant it would be a family-friendly take on the series can rest easy, according to Rockstar’s vice president of creative Dan Houser.

In the latest issue of Edge Magazine Houser reveals that, while the presentation of GTA: Chinatown Wars will be changed to an isometric viewpoint game populated with cel-shaded characters, the language and themes will stay true to the series proper. “No one disagreed with Sam [Houser, Rockstar president and Dan’s brother]’s very clear edict that GTA has to be an M rating,” he explained. “It can’t be softened to make it family-friendly – that’s not the game we’re making. We’ve never not done well by sticking to our guns.”

Houser added that Nintendo was on-board with the direction of the product, telling us, “Nintendo wanted us to make GTA, and we wanted to make a game on their platform. They didn’t want us to make a GTA for kids, and we weren’t interested in making a game we wouldn’t normally make.”

So how mature will the game be? The latest issue of Edge also reveals that Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars will have a complete drug dealing minigame, which will allow players to peddle six types of drugs around the city. Players will make a profit by recognizing market conditions and demands based on geography and plying their wares accordingly.

New Niko Bellic Artwork

Another great GTA IV fan artwork was released recently. This time it’s from a friend of Patrick Brown, whose amazing art creations we all admire so much, Bob Baxter. I’d say Bob did a very good job on his representation of Niko. The colors and shadows complement each other in every way, and a hint of humor completes this artwork perfectly. Those creative Australians just keep giving and giving. No doubt we’ll see more GTA artwork from Bob Baxter in future. Well done and hopefully we’ll see other main characters from GTA too!

Max Payne 3?

It’s not 100% confirmed, but apparently the next chapter in a long-dormant Max Payne series is currently in development by Rockstar Toronto. The very studio that’s responsible for the movie-inspired game The Warriors.

Max Payne was originally created by Remedy Entertainment, and debuted in 2001. Publisher Take-Two then purchased the property from Remedy and producer 3D Realms in 2002, with a Remedy-developed sequel following in 2003.

There are a lot of speculations and rumors on the web about Max Payne 3. Some sites can even offer an occasional remark or comment from people who one way or another involved with Max Payne, but that’s about it. The only information really know for now is that the game is currently in development. The studio owner Take-Two stays in the shadow for now, and they aren't releasing or confirming any information about the game.

The first Max Payne was a revolution in gaming world and generated endless amount of fans. Games don’t get any better than that, its smart narrative, audacious aesthetic and its perfect gameplay all come together in one solid game. It was simply amazing in every single way. Hopefully Max Payne 3 will astonish us the same way.

The question now isn’t IF Max Payne 3 will be release, but WHEN it will be released.

Bully Coming To PC

Looks like PC users will be blessed with another release from Rockstar Games. The poster with Bully Scholarship Edition logo and message in German, "Demnachst fur PC", was spotted in Rockstar Games’ booth at Leipzig Games Convention 2008. In English message says, "Coming soon for PC". It’s been confirmed by one of the Rockstar Games’ representative that the game will be on sale this October. Unfortunately that’s all the information known at this stage.

According to a poster inside Rockstar's booth on the show floor of GC 2008, Bully: Scholarship Edition will indeed be coming to the PC. We asked a company representative there to translate the text on the poster (which was in German, as GC is held in Leipzig) to confirm this was true.

A Rockstar representative went on to say the game should be expected to ship sometime in late October.

We all aware of Grand Theft Auto IV coming to PC this autumn, but will it be any different than on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3? Everyone wanted to get more information of what we can expect from this release and Leipzig Games Convention 2008 gave us this chance. Apparently PC version wouldn’t be so different after all.

Other than an overall higher resolution (supporting up to 2560x1600 pixels), the game benefits from higher-res textures, better streaming, longer draw distances, and better anti-aliasing. Rockstar Games also added a replay editor, which allows you to view 30-second instant replays and then chop and edit them, add filters, and even combine them into a montage of clips to upload to a Web site of your choice, or to Rockstar's Social Club. The multiplayer game also has some improvements, like a higher player number limit. Rockstar mentioned that GTA IV on PC will also offer improved searching and filtering to find the type of multiplayer games you're most interested in joining.

While the game is still a work in progress, Liberty City looked amazing as ever. Textures were sharp, animations looked clean, and environmental effects such as shadows, lighting, and water all looked top-notch. There were a few glitches when there was a lot of onscreen action, but by and large the engine looked pretty robust. The game was demoed on a giant plasma TV, and even at that size (60-plus inches) the game looked visually impressive. GTAIV will support Xbox 360 controllers in addition to keyboard and mouse, and the demonstration was done using a controller. Icons on the in-game menus reflected the button names and colours of a 360 controller, and if we hadn't seen a giant, glowing PC tower in the corner of the room, we might've suspected the demo was being run on an Xbox 360. We were told that at this late stage of development, Rockstar are spending the next three months tweaking and polishing the game for its PC launch.

Don’t forget that in order to actually witness all that HD beauty or even be able to play GTA IV, many of us would have to reach deep in our pockets to get those hardware upgrades we were saving up for so long. Perhaps in some cases the new PC would be in order. For now feast your eyes on the first PC screenshots of the upcoming epic game soon to take over almost every single PC.

Rockstar Games officially confirmed all the rumors that GTA IV will be released for PC. All PC owners will finally be able to get hold of the game in November this year. What a great present for the owners of the platform who gave the birth to the entire GTA series. PC version is promised to be better and include new exclusive features, but we would have to wait and play to see them. Rockstar Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO), is proud to announce that Grand Theft Auto IV will be arriving on the PC on November 18th and 21st in North America and Europe, respectively.

"We are very excited to be releasing the PC version of Grand Theft Auto IV," said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. "The whole team is dedicated to bringing an amazing gaming experience to the PC. The game looks and plays beautifully on PC and we can't wait for people to play it."

Developed by series creator Rockstar North and set in Liberty City, the latest installment in the enormously successful Grand Theft Auto series features a painstakingly detailed and life-like city for players to explore; a rich, immersive narrative experience; an original soundtrack highlighting the cultural eclecticism of Liberty City; and newly expanded multiplayer just for the PC.

Rockstar Games also updated their news page on GTA IV site.

Grand Theft Auto IV will be arriving on the PC this November, bringing all of the rich, immersive narrative experience found in the console versions, along with newly expanded multiplayer just for the PC.

GTA Chinatown Wars

LCPD Accused of Incompetence

LIBERTY CITY—With the city in the midst of a record crime wave, concerned citizens claim the Liberty City Police Department has done little to prevent the constant car chases, ongoing gun battles, and overall atmosphere of violence that pervade the area.

"I used to feel safe in Liberty City, but lately, it's been total mayhem," said night-shift worker Lola Del Rio, who spoke to reporters while sucking nervously on a red lollipop. "In the past week alone, I've been carjacked twice, run over 10 times, and witness to a half-dozen gunfights that ended with automobiles exploding. What are the police doing to stop all this?"

Since the surge in crime, which began on April 28 at midnight, more than 830,000 civilians have been murdered—nearly one-tenth of Liberty City's total population. In addition, 35,000 vehicles have been reported stolen, many of which were then driven illegally over sidewalks and pedestrian walkways before plunging into the nearby Humboldt River. And according to startling figures released by local community action group Citizens for a Safer City, drug trafficking has become rampant and prostitution has increased by 800 percent.

LCPD officers deal with a shoplifting suspect.

"I was shot 14 times on my way to work today, including twice by police," said one Algonquin-area resident. "That is unacceptable."

Many blame the LCPD directly for the increase in criminal activity, citing the department's lax procedure for arresting criminals, which involves taking 10 percent of the suspect's money, confiscating his weapons, and simply releasing him from custody later that day. Outraged citizens say this is not enough, especially in a city where assault rifles can be found on factory roofs and grenade caches are located under the globe at the old World's Fair site.

Officers respond to one of the 43,274 murders reported in the city last month.

"The police just let them go, and 20 minutes later they're shooting at the very same criminals from helicopters," veteran crime reporter Mike Whiteley said. "That is not proper law enforcement. We may be seeing a return to the bad old days of 2002, when the police, the FIB, and even Army tank battalions would leave countless bodies on the streets while attempting to capture just one man on some sort of joyful mass-destruction spree."

Perhaps even more alarming, city records indicate that more than 75 percent of perpetrators in mass-murder or vehicular-manslaughter cases escape, usually by simple methods such as driving into a car-repainting facility. Criminals have even eluded pursuit by walking into their apartment and going to bed for six hours, after which the search has been called off.

However, one LCPD official, who wished to remain anonymous, blamed the recent crime wave on the police department's lack of proper equipment.

"We are only equipped to pursue a suspect within a small radius on a very basic half-centimeter radar screen," the officer said. "If we were allowed to seek criminals who escaped this radius for more than 15 seconds, our results would improve dramatically."

"And to those who say the LCPD is too quick to resort to deadly force, remember that almost 850,000 police officers, FIB agents, and N.O.O.S.E. [National Office of Security Enforcement] team members have died in the line of duty in the past month," he added.

Nonetheless, residents say that their confidence in the Liberty City police force—low in the best of times—has eroded almost completely.

"I was buying a hot dog from a street vendor in Hove Beach yesterday when I saw someone run a red light, barrel down the sidewalk, careen into a garbage truck, exit his vehicle, steal a nearby convertible, and drive away," one Broker resident reported. "A nearby police car didn't even react. But when the car behind him nicked his fender, the officer shot the driver through the windshield and walked away."

"That is not the kind of law enforcement we want for our community," he added.

Most admit that the problem is not a lack of police presence, as the LCPD currently operates 15 different police stations throughout the city's four boroughs, and there is a seemingly infinite number of officers on duty at all times to respond to reported crimes. However, citizens say the officers' "shoot-first" mentality and willingness to accept bribes only contributes to the city's widespread violence and corruption.

"It's almost as if the cops in this town are as much an adversarial faction as the criminals," said public defender Kiki Jenkins, who is rumored to be instrumental in recent incidents of police being inexplicably pulled from chases and criminal pursuit. "Sure, we have excellent radio stations and an incredible range of things to see and do here. But if I were younger, I'd move to Mario World in a second."

That particular artwork above was so good Blockbuster decided to use it for their GTA IV pre-launch campaign. Strangely enough Patrick Brown was the last one to find out about it.

GTA IV Lola Del Rio

If you don’t feel like you wasted enough time chasing non-existent Bigfoot, Leatherface and UFOs all over San Andreas, you have another chance with GTA IV. The new GTA game is out and so are the infamous GTA myths. This time the myth is a lot sexier, it’s hot and suggestive lollipop sucking girl called Lola. Fake screenshots and stories on how to find her already started to appear all over the Internet.

Lola is a prostitute who appears on promotional artwork for the game. In October 2007, her character art was painted on the side of a building in SoHo, New York, advertising the game. She can be found near the docks. After a certain point in the game, you can search the Police Database for Lola Del Rio and it will tell you she was one of the first prostitute to return to Star Junction (Time Square) even after it was called a family zone.

Little is known about her, and no one is certain if she is in the game. She might not even be a prostitute, as it says she came to Liberty City to become a stage performer.
